Walking along Via Le Chiuse in the historical San Donato neighbourhood, it is impossible not to notice it. Casa Baloire, the site of the new MMF-2015 WELCOME, stands out among the surrounding buildings for its Art Nouveau details, Art Deco accents and staggered windows. A location of historical interest for architecture lovers, this little house is probably the only private home designed and built by the engineer Enrico Bonicelli, one of the most famous factory designers in the early twentieth century in Turin.
Aware of the historical value of the architecture of Casa Baloire, the current owners, Ombretta and Alessandro, restored the building, reviving the splendour of the early twentieth century, and decided to share its history and fascinating view of Turin by transforming the top floor (the central portion of which is one story higher than the rest of the building) into an apartment for tourists and architecture enthusiasts. And thus the first MMF-2015 WELCOME in Turin was born.
With a fully-equipped kitchen, large living room and a bedroom with a walk-in closet, this MMF-2015 WELCOME apartment was designed by the MMF-2015 SPACE Priolo. Starting from the owners’ desire to provide guests with a unique experience of Casa Baloire, the Turin interior designers created a space in perfect dialogue with the building’s distinctive architecture and evocative presence of the past. Playing with pale hues ranging from powder to almond, with brick-colour accents that echo the exterior, they translated the charm of the building, which turns 101 this year, into contemporary interiors.
