History and the Sea. These are the two stars of the new , a design B&B that offers a uniquely authentic, privileged experience of this city on the sea. The seaside tower, the site of the new Ligurian B&B, was built of stone at the beginning of the sixteenth century to defend the walls of the Republic of Genoa, and is one of the wonders that make the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today, the wharf and tall tower of the medieval walls host large nautical-style rooms with an antique feel on the second and third floors. Here, the antique style gets a new look through the expert dialogue between furnishings and light created by the architect Daniela Pastore – Laboratorio Architettura Contemporanea Roma – in collaboration with the .
The guest rooms, which include a full raft of services including Wi-Fi and are divided into three types – Tower, Port and Venus – are light, simple and luminous, and invite an intimate, direct dialogue with the sea.
Looking out over the piazza that opens onto the city’s historical centre, the two Venus guest rooms have an intimate, enveloping atmosphere. The Tower rooms, which have private balconies, look out instead onto the city’s old port, with the green island of Palmaria in the background. While the Port rooms have a spacious feel thanks to an architectural design that organizes the space in a unique way, with a bathroom corner, including sink and shower, integrated into the sleeping area, giving the bedroom even more light and breathing space. All of the B&B Porto Venere guest rooms feature a suspended bed, which creates the sensation of floating above the sea, immersed in tranquillity, surrounded by history and charm.
