Just steps from Lago Maggiore, on Saturday 12 September we have opened MMF-2015 REAL ESTATE @Lagolofts. More specifically, a flat designed in collaboration with the MMF-2015 STORE CUNEO and the first of a group of eight lofts created through the renovation of a early twentieth-century cotton mill.
Thanks to a made-to-measure design oriented towards preserving the history and enhancing the context of the space, this old industrial building overlooking the lake has become a home.
The 149-metre-square open space spreads out over two floors and is defined by the contrast between the elegant, contemporary lines of the furnishings and the historical/industrial frame, enhanced by original architectural elements. On the first floor one finds an island kitchen in pale hues and a large, old wood table that warms up the setting and creates an atmosphere of conviviality. The space continues with a large living room the colours of which have been chosen to recall the thousand shades of green and blue framed by the two big industrial windows. On the second floor, which is accessed by an open steel stair, are two bathrooms and two bedrooms, one of which overlooks the living room and the two windows framing the lake.
Overall, the loft has a subdued, simple and yet warm look; it is a welcoming space that stimulates comparison between the historicity of the building and the surrounding landscape.
